What is mSpy?

mSpy is the parental control software designed for remote smartphone monitoring. It allows parents to stay updated on their children’s mobile phone activity, GPS location and more.

mSpy is the application, which is to be installed on the smartphone of the child. Once installed and set up, the app will start collecting activity logs. You can safely check all the information found on the phone on personal Control Panel.

You can start using mSpy features as soon as you subscribe. mSpy covers three subscription packages. Each of them offers a different set of features. You can choose the one package suitable for you and start monitoring activity with mSpy app instantly.

How does mSpy work?

mSpy app tracks activity performed on the mobile phone and transfers it to your Control Panel for comfortable use. You can enter your Panel from your laptop anytime and check the activity tracked.

Make sure the mobile phone you intend to monitor is compatible with the mSpy software. Go to the compatibility page to check if the mSpy app supports the phone’s model number. Then decide on the subscription package and submit your order.

After your payment is processed, check your e-mail for the welcome letter from mSpy. The letter will contain your login credentials and a link to your Control Panel. Follow the link to enter the Control Panel and find the installation guidelines.

You need to gain physical access to the Android mobile phone, you plan to track to install the mSpy software. Install the app adhering to the guidelines provided in your Panel. For iOS device monitoring no installation is required. But you need to provide iCloud account credentials and enable iCloud backup.

Please, mind the fact that by installing the mSpy software on your child’s mobile phone you agree to apply this app for legitimate use only. The legal use of the app implies that you can only install the software on your own mobile phone, phone of your underage child or the device of the person who is informed about monitoring and agreed to be tracked.

Does mSpy work worldwide?

The mSpy software works on any compatible smartphone regardless of mobile networks providers. Though, to achieve maximum effectiveness with mSpy, the target mobile phone has to be connected to the Internet. mSpy requires an Internet connection to upload the collected activity logs to your Control Panel. Make sure the mobile web is available, in case the Wi-Fi hotspot is not around.

What devices are supported by mSpy?

mSpy supports both Android and iOS running smartphones. You can start using mSpy on any of these devices:

  • Android 4+
  • iOS – 7 – the latest

mSpy monitoring software has a limited set of features for iOS smartphones. If you want to proceed to advanced monitoring, switch to Android to be able to use Premium set of features of mSpy.

Is mSpy icon displayed on the monitored device?

Once the installation is complete, the mSpy icon will appear in the menu of the mobile phone. Although the icon won't help the user discover there is monitoring app installed on their device, you can remove it from the menu if you like.

Is it legal to use mSpy?

The mSpy software is created for parents to help them supervise the online activity of their children. It is absolutely legal to use mSpy if:

  • You own the device monitored and the person who uses it is fully aware of it
  • You monitor the device of your minor child

Keep in mind that you are solely responsible for the use and misuse of the mSpy app. Purchasing mSpy subscription package, you acknowledge your responsibility for all disclosures, notifications, and agreements, which may arise under certain circumstances of your mSpy use.

Can I install mSpy remotely?

If you use mSpy to monitor iOS smartphone of your child, the mSpy app can be installed remotely. You will need to get iCloud credentials and enable iCloud backup on the device. Please, be informed that you may need physical access to the smartphone in case iCloud backup is disabled.

The mSpy app can’t be installed on the Android mobile phones remotely. You will need to obtain access to the device and install the app following the instructions provided.

Opt for the mAssistance package to get mSpy app set up on the target device remotely. Our Customer Support representatives will install the app for you with Team Viewer.

How do I install mSpy?

mSpy for iOS

If you intend to monitor iOS running devices, the No-jailbreak package will be suitable for you. You don’t need physical access to the iOS device to install the mSpy app. Please, note that to conduct remote installation you will have to obtain user’s iCloud credentials and enable iCloud backup.

If the device you intend to monitor has 2-factor authentication enabled, the remote installation will be impossible. You will have to gain physical access to the smartphone to install the software*.

To make sure the iCloud automatically backs up the device, you need to make sure:

  1. iCloud Backup is enabled
  2. The device is connected to a power source
  3. The device is connected to Wi-Fi
  4. The screen of the device is locked

Also, make sure that your iCloud has enough space for the backup. To do this, go to Settings, tap your name and iCloud for your iOS 10.3 or later. Then tap Manage Storage to find out how much free space is left.

For iOS 10.2 or earlier, go to Settings, tap iCloud and choose Storage.

mSpy for Android

To install mSpy on the Android smartphone, you will need to have physical access to the device. Once you purchase the subscription and receive your login credentials, enter your Control Panel to get access to installation instructions.

Basic features of mSpy are available for unrooted Android devices. But if you intend to use monitor WhatsApp, Facebook, and Snapchat, and use other Premium features, you will need to root the Android device firstly.

*If you find the installation of the mSpy software difficult, you can get qualified and prompt support with the mAssistance package. We will install the mSpy application on the device you plan to monitor and disable chatting apps, set up Keylogger, and all other features for you.

How can I uninstall mSpy?

On the iOS device:

To uninstall the mSpy app from the iOS device of your child, contact our Customer Support and they will remove the mSpy software. Then you should change the iCloud password and enable two-factor authentication.

On the Android device:

To remove the mSpy app on the Android device, go to the Settings. Then tap Security and choose Device Administrators. Here find Update Service and deactivate it. Go back to Settings and proceed to Apps. Find Update Service once again and tap Uninstall.

Where can I check data from the monitored device?

Once you install the app on the target mobile phone, the software will start tracking the activity performed on the device. The collected data will be transferred to your Control Panel. To check the data gathered, you will need to log in to your Control Panel using personal login credentials. You can enter your Control Panel from any browser.

Note that mSpy can copy the collected activity logs to the Control Panel only if the target device has an Internet connection. If the connection is lost, the mSpy software will transfer the gathered data as soon as the Internet connection is established.

What payment methods are available for purchasing mSpy?

What happens after the purchase?

Once the payment is processed and confirmed, you will receive a confirmation letter from your payment processor. Then check your inbox for a welcome letter from mSpy. Note that the welcome letter may be identified as spam, so make sure to check the Spam folder.

The welcome letter will contain the link to your Control Panel, where the logs will appear, and login credentials. Follow the link to your Panel and enter your account with login credentials.

Once logged in to your Panel you will see an installation Wizard, which will help you to install the app on the target mobile phone and set up the device.

How can I get a refund?

We provide full refunds within ten days following the day of the purchase since the refund reasons do not contradict Refund Policy conditions. Our Customer Support successfully deals with different issues and problems that may appear. Contact them with any difficulty that may arise, and they will address it promptly.

How often does mSpy information gets updated?

If you use mSpy to monitor the iOS running device, the logs will be updated within 24 hours since the moment of the latest backup. The update takes such amount of time because backups can sometimes reach up to few gigabytes of data and depend on the Internet speed.

If you apply mSpy to track activity on the Android smartphone, the logs will be updated according to the update intervals you choose. The update intervals determine how frequently does mSpy app connects to the server to transfer the collected logs to your Control Panel.

Update intervals affect the battery life of the smartphone. Short update intervals (less than 10 min) may significantly decrease the phone battery performance and longevity. Please, keep in mind that sometimes the update may take longer than usual due to mobile data speed.

Why does the monitored device require an Internet connection?

The device you monitor has to be connected to the Internet to allow the mSpy app to send collected logs to your Control Panel. The mSpy software relies on the stable Internet connection to present the newest information on the activity performed. The app can use both Wi-Fi and mobile data.

Can I monitor two or more devices?

mSpy allows you to monitor as many devices as you want. Please note that with one subscription package you can track only one mobile phone. You can change the smartphone monitored for free during the subscription period as many times as you want to.

But if you intend to track two mobile phones simultaneously, you will need to invest in two subscription packages.

My monitored device is an iPhone. Do I need to jailbreak it to be able to install mSpy?

Currently, mSpy develops tracking software for non-jailbroken iOS devices. Latest security updates made the jailbreak an unnecessary process, which may even expose the device to software vulnerabilities.

To protect the devices of our customers, we offer No-Jailbreak subscription package, which allows monitoring the activity performed on non-jailbroken iOS smartphones. You don’t need to jailbreak an iPhone, to start tracking it with mSpy.

What is rooting? Do I need to root Android device to use mSpy? Does Android rooting void warranty?

Rooting is the process of granting the Android users the privileged control (root access) over their mobile phone’s operating system.

Rooting Android smartphone is not required to start using the mSpy software. All the Basic subscription features, except e-mail monitoring, are available for unrooted Android smartphones. But if you want to go for advanced monitoring with a Premium subscription, rooting the target Android mobile phone is required.

According to Free Software Foundation Europe, rooting does not void the statutory warranty. Although, in the warranty agreements the software manufacturers claim that rooting is an unapproved system modification, which does void the statutory warranty. There many controversies whether root access void the warranty or not, thus this question is currently unclear. What is clear, is that rooting is a reversible process. You can easily return the mobile phone to the initial out-of-box condition.

If you don’t know how to obtain root access safely or having difficulties with the installation or setup of the mSpy app, you can opt for mAssistance. It is the optional assistance package, which includes help with rooting target Android device, guided installation, and setup of the mSpy software.

How can I detect monitoring software on my smartphone or tablet?

Please be informed, that mSpy complies with all the legal terms regarding installation and use of parental control software. The mSpy app starts collecting activity after it is installed on the target mobile phone. We do not offer monitoring services by the phone or IMEI number. You need to install and set up the mSpy software on the target smartphone to start monitoring the activity performed on the device.

What if I need technical support?

mSpy provides the following assistance packages:

  • E-mail support and live chat assistance - E-mail and live chat assistance are free of charge and included in the Basic and Premium subscription.
  • Phone support - Phone support is an additional package to your initial e-mail support and live chat assistance. The package grants users with assistance over the phone, help with the installation process and more. The phone support package is optional and non-refundable.
